Overview <\/h3>\n

This guidance provides recommendations for the primary collection, analysis, reporting and use of Taenia solium<\/em> taeniasis and cysticercosis data within routine health information systems, focusing on data routinely collected at the health-facility level. Its scope covers the collection, aggregation and basic summary analysis of individual and aggregated data on taeniasis and neurocysticercosis (NCC) cases. It does not address data from population-based surveys for human taeniasis, surveillance of porcine cysticercosis or serious adverse events, which are reported through national pharmacovigilance systems. The guidance also summarizes the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of T. solium<\/em> infections to support the interpretation and use of routine surveillance data.\n<\/p>\n

Intended for health ministry decision-makers, epidemiologists, data managers and health workers involved in T. solium<\/em> surveillance and control, the guidance enables users to describe core indicators, identify trends in incidence, prevalence, geographical distribution and progress towards disease control, monitor neurocysticercosis case management outcomes, interpret changes in trends over time disaggregated by sex, age group and geographical location, and assess data quality and its implications for data interpretation. It promotes the standardized use of routine health information to strengthen national monitoring and contribute to global reporting on this neglected tropical disease.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n
