The A-Compass: The UNFPA adaptive management model

The publication presents the first ever adaptive management model of UNFPA, the A-COMPASS.

A-COMPASS will navigate individuals and teams towards practicing adaptive management for the acceleration of achievement of results. It can also be considered as the updated programme cycle of UNFPA.

The publication introduces a new definition for adaptive management, as well as an adaptive management manifesto around four interconnected drivers: (a) leadership; (b) collaboration; (c) agility; (d) learning that promotes adaptation. UNFPA also introduces a new concept of ‘adaptive moment’. To better institutionalise adaptive management within any organization or business unit, the publication highlights the importance of A-movement.
