This Strategy focuses on empowering women and adolescent girls and reaffirms UNFPA\u2019s commitments to supporting the realization of international commitments and resolutions. It also complements the implementation of the UNFPA 2018\u20132021 Strategic Plan.<\/p>\n
With a focus on strengthening action-oriented institutional accountability and implementing an integrated approach that is rights-based, participatory, people-centred, transformative, evidence and results-based, the Strategy will:<\/p>\n

- promote gender equality and women\u2019s and girls\u2019 empowerment particularly for those most left behind;<\/li>\n
- improve women\u2019s and adolescent girls\u2019 sexual and reproductive health and rights;<\/li>\n
- address gender-based violence and harmful practices in all contexts including child, early and forced marriage, female genital mutilation, son preference and the undervaluing of girls;<\/li>\n
- engage men and boys;<\/li>\n
- strengthen capacities for gender data\/statistics collection, analysis and use;\u00a0<\/li>\n
- facilitate greater engagement with young people;\u00a0<\/li>\n
- develop capacity and strengthen systems for implementing women\u2019s and adolescent girls\u2019 rights as specified in international treaties\/ resolutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
