The\u00a0UNFPA-UNICEF Joint Programme on Female Genital Mutilation\/Cutting<\/a>: Accelerating Change started in 2008 and has just completed the first half of its Phase II implementation period (2014\u20132017). The programme seeks to contribute to the overall goal \u2013 as set by the 2014 United Nations General Assembly Resolution A\/RES\/69\/501, in support of governments, communities, and the girls and women concerned \u2013 of the abandonment of\u00a0female genital mutilation<\/a>\u00a0(FGM). The programme also aims to achieve Target 5.3 of the Sustainable Development Goal on gender equality, which commits Member States to ending FGM.<\/p>\n

The 2015 Annual Report reflects the results of better and more precise data on the programme’s achievements, and provide the basis for more in-depth analysis of progress. The experience and lessons contained in this report are important for the continued success of the Joint Programme.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article><\/div><\/div>\n
