The Significance of “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach themthe same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

The phrase “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” is a powerful christian law used by Jesus in Matthew 5:19 from the Sermon on the Mount, emphasizing the importance of upholding God’s commandments. It highlights the gravity of neglecting even the seemingly insignificant laws and the significance of living them out in our daily lives.

Context of the Phrase

The law appears within Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, a collection of teachings focusing on right living and morality for spreading God’s message. The law “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” found in Matthew 5:19, is part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, a series of teachings delivered during his earthly ministry. The Sermon on the Mount is considered a central message of Christian morality, emphasizing the importance of righteousness, love and forgiveness.

In the context of the Sermon, Jesus is addressing the Pharisees, who were known for their strict adherence to the Law of Moses. However, Jesus challenges their rigid approach, pointing out that a true understanding of the law goes beyond mere external obedience. Instead, he emphasizes the importance of inner transformation and living out the commandments with a heart of love and forgiveness.

Significance of the Phrase

The law “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” underscores the importance of upholding all of God’s commandments, regardless of their perceived significance. Jesus is not suggesting that there are different levels of importance in the law, but rather that even the smallest commandments reflect God’s character and our commitment to him.

By emphasizing the consequences of breaking even the smallest commandments, Jesus is warning against hypocrisy and superficiality. He calls us to be consistent in our pursuit of righteousness, not just in our outward actions but also in our inner motivations.

Application of the Phrase

The law “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” has profound implications for our daily lives. It challenges us to critically examine our intentions and actions, ensuring that we are not inadvertently violating God’s commandments. It also encourages us to live with righteousness, consistently applying the principles of love and forgiveness, fairness and equality in our interactions with others.

In practical terms, the law can guide us in areas such as:

Set an example: If we are tempted to break God’s commandments, we can ask God for strength and guidance. We can be a positive example of God’s love and grace in the world.

Build others up: If we see someone doing something wrong, we can gently remind them of God’s commandments. We can use our words to build up the spirits of others, rather than tearing them down.

Live with righteousness: We should avoid engaging in unrighteous practices, even if they seem insignificant, such as cheating on tests, lying to our parents, or misrepresenting ourselves to others.

Love and forgiveness: We should treat others with love and forgiveness, regardless of their position or background. We should avoid making hurtful or judgmental remarks, and instead, strive to build bridges of empathy and understanding.

Fairness and equality: We should stand up for those who are marginalized or oppressed, and work to create a more fair and equal society. We should challenge unjust laws or practices, and advocate for policies that promote fairness and equality.

By living out the principles of God’s commandments, we can strive to embody his character and contribute to a world that reflects his love and grace. By following these principles, we can make a positive impact on the world and help others to find their way to heaven.

    Ecclesiastes 3:1-22
    “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
    A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
    A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
    A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
    A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
    A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
    A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
    A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
    What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
    I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
    He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
    I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
    And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
    I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
    That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
    And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
    I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
    I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
    For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
    All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
    Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
    Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?”

      “God’s words will be twisted by AI and then present age will be deceived”

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_James_Version
      “The King James Version (KJV), also the King James Bible (KJB) and the Authorized Version (AV) is an Early Modern English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England, which was commissioned in 1604 and published in 1611, by sponsorship of King James VI and I.[d][e] The 80 books of the King James Version include 39 books of the Old Testament, 14 books of Apocrypha, and the 27 books of the New Testament.
      Noted for its “majesty of style”, the King James Version has been described as one of the most important books in English culture and a driving force in the shaping of the English-speaking world.[3][4] The King James Version remains the preferred translation of many Christian fundamentalists and religious movements, and it is also considered to be one of the important literary accomplishments of early modern England.
      The KJV was first printed by John Norton and Robert Barker, who both held the post of the King’s Printer, and was the third translation into the English language approved by the English Church authorities: The first had been the Great Bible, commissioned in the reign of King Henry VIII (1535), and the second had been the Bishops’ Bible, commissioned in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1568).[5] In Geneva, Switzerland, the first generation of Protestant Reformers had produced the Geneva Bible[6] which was published in 1560 by Sir Rowland Hill[7] having referred to the original Hebrew and Greek scriptures, which was influential in the writing of the Authorized King James Version. The English Church initially used the officially sanctioned “Bishops’ Bible”, which, however, was hardly used by the population. More popular was the named “Geneva Bible”, which was created on the basis of the Tyndale translation in Geneva under the direct successor of the reformer John Calvin for his English followers. However, their footnotes represented a Calvinistic Puritanism that was too radical for King James. In particular, the decidedly anti-royalist tone of the Geneva Bible was unbearable for King James I, for he was a strict advocate of divine right. The translators of the Geneva Bible had translated the word king as tyrant about four hundred times—the word tyrant does not appear once in the KJB. Because of this, it has been assumed that King James purposely had the translators of the KJV mistranslate the word “tyrant” as either “troubling”, “oppressor,” or some other word to avoid people being critical of his monarchy, though there is no evidence to back up that claim.[8] For his project, King James convened the Hampton Court Conference in January 1604, where a new English version was conceived in response to the problems of the earlier translations perceived by the Puritans,[9] a faction of the Church of England.[10] James gave the translators instructions intended to ensure that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology, and reflect the episcopal structure, of the Church of England and its belief in an ordained clergy.[11] The translation was done by six panels of translators (47 men in all, most of whom were leading biblical scholars in England) who had the work divided up between them: the Old Testament was entrusted to three panels, the New Testament to two, and the Apocrypha to one.[12] In common with most other translations of the period, the New Testament was translated from Greek, the Old Testament from Hebrew and Aramaic, and the Apocrypha from Greek and Latin. In the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, the text of the Authorized Version replaced the text of the Great Bible for Epistle and Gospel readings (but not for the Psalter, which substantially retained Coverdale’s Great Bible version), and as such was authorized by Act of Parliament.[13]
      By the first half of the 18th century, the Authorized Version had become effectively unchallenged as the only English translation used in Anglican and other English Protestant churches, except for the Psalms and some short passages in the Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England. Over the course of the 18th century, the Authorized Version supplanted the Latin Vulgate as the standard version of scripture for English-speaking scholars. With the development of stereotype printing at the beginning of the 19th century, this version of the Bible had become the most widely printed book in history, almost all such printings presenting the standard text of 1769 extensively re-edited by Benjamin Blayney at Oxford, and nearly always omitting the books of the Apocrypha. Today the unqualified title “King James Version” usually indicates this Oxford standard text.”
